Meal Fifteen: Chicken Spiedies

Back together again... for good eats!  I had heard of Spiedies before, from my dear friend Noogit, who enjoyed them while rooting for the Fightin' Irish.  Eyeore had speiedie history from her time in upstate NY.  I think our meal was a successful homage.

Chicken Spiedies on a nice soft roll - grilled if you wish!  With the marinade and drizzle sauce made the night before, Eeyore had time for a busy side dish - Roasted Salt & Vinegar Potatoes.  I will admit this is not typically my favorite flavor combo, but these were VERY good.  This was a meal of no leftovers!

Blueberry pie from berries harvested this week was the perfect dessert.  We enjoyed the thunderstorm from the protection of the sunporch- even had a little amphibian visitor on the back door!

Meal Five: Matzo-Pizza Lasagna

Meal Seven : Pork Chops with Tomato Gravy

This meal had a few doubters at the start, but it was a big success.  Pork Chops with Tomato Gravy served over Cheese Grits ... southern goodness from a Yankee chef! The king kutter provided perfectly shredded cheese- as usual.

Meal Ten: Skillet Macaroni with Zesty Meat Sauce

This was good easy fare for a rainy Summer evening.   Skillet Macaroni with Zesty Meat Sauce gave us the chance to use our basil (which recovered from some type of animal attack earlier this season) and new pan.  It was a generous portion with enough leftovers for everyone. We didn't want to be too simple for our skilled chef, so we added a bakery component.  Garlic Cheese Biscuits from Paula Deen were perfect!  These yummy little treats did NOT have any leftovers. Even our birthday boy Squirt noticed right when he walked in... "those look like the Bisquick biscuits my mom used to make", to which we responded "they are!"
